Alan Schoff is a voice of reason and common sense. Let’s calm in the chaos created by business interests that tears holes in our community fabric. After 20 years of experimenting on our children, the data for privatizing schools is only showing that recruitment marketing works. There is no academic improvements for any group of learners.

Equity begins and ends when every child in Indianapolis can enjoy the same experiences: stability in our schools, expereinced educators in our classrooms, arts integration in the curriculum, and open, honest communication channels between children, parents, teachers, and school leaders.

Alan Schoff is asking for your vote to be an independent voice on the IPS School Board for families, educators, and voters who want stable, nurturing, resourced schools for all children.

Stable Schools are Essential
Let’s calm the chaos of years of school disruptions affecting tens-of-thousands of low-income children. There is no voice on the current school board calling out the unnecessary turmoil to families’ lives

Committed, Certified Teachers are Essential Teachers are as essential as police, fire, and emergency medical services. Stable schools require a consistent, cohesive teaching force of well-trained, certified teachers who know how to assess and teach to every child’s needs. Educators, not business people, should run our schools.

Taxpayer Oversight is Essential
Charter schools and district Innovation Charter schools have their own appointed school boards that do not answer to the democratically elected public school board. Even the superintendent has no legal authority. That makes these schools less accountable to taxpayers. More school administrators wastes our money. It’s common sense.

Arts for Every Child are Essential
Intentional arts education is long tested and proven. It must be a city-wide initiative to integrate academic, social, cultural, and emotional learning practices with more arts for every child.
